上萱津神社（かみかやづじんじゃ）【愛知・上萱津】　祭りで道理の榊誕生！日本で唯一漬物の神様が居る神社

　上萱津神社は、愛知県上萱津、創立は不明、祭神は鹿屋野比売神（かやのひめ神話に登場する草の神のこと）です。

　上萱津神社は日本で唯一漬物の神様が祀られています。境内（神社内のこと）には漬物を納める「香の物殿」や毎年８月２１日に「漬物祭」が行うなど漬物についての文化が多くあります。

　漬物以外にも縁結びに有名ですので、お守りなど販売されています。毎年４月第２日曜日新たな夫婦を祝う「縁結び祭」を行います。

　太古民族が平野を求めて土地を開拓した頃、田畑の豊作を守る神鹿屋野比売神がありとあらゆる病を治す神社として、御神徳がありました。
　
　明治５年５月、大正四年には指定神社となる。昭和１３年頃より社殿の神社の境内を建て直しを行い終戦時には県の神社としてに認められた。

上萱津神社の祭神　

鹿屋野比売神（かやのひめ）を祭神としています。鹿屋野比売神は建物の神・草の神・縁結びの神など多くの御神徳のある神さまです。　

 

道理の榊について

タイトルにある【道理の榊】は男女・夫婦の親密な関係を表しています。
理由は道理の榊は根元が二幹に分かれており、枝が絡み合い一本になったからです。
　上萱津神社では日本武尊（やまとたけるののみこと）が榊を植えたことから連理の榊（れんりのさかき）と言われています。

道理の榊について

タイトルにある【道理の榊】は男女・夫婦の親密な関係を表しています。

主な行事

縁結び祭　

毎年４月第２日曜日縁結び祭を行います。
縁結び祭は新たな夫婦を称え（ほめる）、夫婦を献納致します。町内の住民初めとする者達が祝う行事です。

香乃物の始まり

毎年８月２１日に斎行される香乃物祭（漬物祭）は漬物発祥の神様の漬物文化を盛り上げ・祈るお祭りです。
昔尾張平野は海岸に面しており、土地の人々がこの神前にウリ・ナス・蓼（たで）等　海から取れた藻塩・米・麦・栗・黍・稗もお供えをし、お祈りをしていました。
　昔多くの供物が腐敗するのを惜しんだ里人が神社の傍（そば）に甕（かめ）を置き中にウリ・ナス等を入れたところ、程よい塩漬けになり、当時の人々は雨などにあたっても変わらぬ不思議なその味を神からの賜りものとしてあらゆる病を治すお守りにしたとあり、これが我が国の漬物の始まりであるといわれております。
　さて、祭典神事は毎年８月２１日に斎行（さいこう）されます。何故この日なのか不明ですが、漬込む野菜の収穫期や塩の生産と大きく係わりを持ち、自然の恵みに適合したこの時期に斎行されてきたと思われます。
